Masks and Mirrors by Ruben White (poem)

Masks and Mirrors by Ruben White (poem)

In halls of pretense, where shadows dwell, A masked ballet, truths to dispel. We don the visage, polished and bright, Hiding the fractures, deep in the night.

Mirrors reflect what we wish to see, A curated facade, a polished decree. Reputation's mirror, a shimmering glass, Distorting perceptions, as moments amass.

Yet, in quiet corners, where souls confide, The masks slip, revealing what's inside. The cracks and the scars, the fears and the dreams, The raw, unfiltered, authenticity gleams.

Like Maya's verse, truth will ascend, Through layers of pretense, it will transcend. For in the depths of vulnerability's embrace, True strength is found, leaving no trace.

So let the masks fall, let the mirrors reveal, The genuine beauty, the wounds that heal. In the dance of life, let authenticity reign, Reflecting reality, breaking the chain.

For in the tapestry of our shared human plight, Truth's radiant mirror shines ever so bright. Embrace the reflections, both flawed and divine, And in that acceptance, true freedom you'll find.
